Differently from conventional systems, CVT has un-fixed gear ratios allowing the engine to run at its most efficient level resulting in improved fuel efficiency. Cars equipped with this technology can offer a 3-14% improved fuel efficiency than comparable models with a manual transmission. "CVT can bring tangible benefits to Chinese consumers such as less fuel consumption and reduction of exhaust emissions," said Mr. Elias van Wijk.
As a global leading supplier for CVT push-belts and pioneer in the field of this technology, Bosch provides the new generation CVT metal push-belt. Current CVT push-belt technology makes it possible to cover a broad range of engines starting from 1.0 L engines to 3.5 L engines and higher. Currently in the Chinese market, Bosch CVT push-belts are used mostly by Dongfeng Nissan and Guangzhou Honda in such models as Nissan Sylphy, Qashqai, New Teana, and Honda Fit, Civic hybrid.
In China, Bosch has already cooperated with a few OEMs in joint programs of CVT development. Chinese automakers' reliance on CVT exports should be replaced by locally made CVT products and this will be a huge potential market.
Bosch is seeking more partners in China and ready to offer technical know-how transfer, engineering support for Chinese companies to develop their own-brand CVT.
